Hortense Pisano lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. Since her studies of art history, German language and literature, French literature and linguistics, she has been working as a freelance author and has been responsible for the organization of several exhibitions. In addition, she has been teaching art history and art criticism at universities and colleges on a regular basis for many years.
Scholarly focus: The avant-gardes of modernism as well as contemporary art, research interests in sculpture/ architecture, interdisciplinary art (performance art, installative media art, electronic sound art), artist collectives, postcolonial strategies and feminist art theory.
